Magni's Forge Hammer

I present to you Magni's Forge Hammer, based on the former Dwarf King's Forge Hammer that was used in the creation of the Ashbringer in Warcraft law. Whilst watching some gameplay of Heroes of the Storm, I saw some gameplay of Muradin Bronzebeard, with the Magni Bronzebeard skin applied. I noticed the awesome looking hammer, and so started finding some reference images so i could make a 3D model. The only problem is that each different picture of the hammer depicted either a different shape or different colourings. Eventually, I went with the hammer seen in Hereos of the Storm.
Making the actual mesh was a lot of fun, it was the first model in which I learned to make handle straps with limited polygons needed. The hardest part about making this mesh was the actual hammer proportions and shape. Although I had made the handle fine, the actual shape of the hammer was very hit and miss during the creation process. The image I was using as a reference gave me an idea of what it looked like, but did not tell me what the proportions were in relation to the handle size. I even remade the entire upper hammer part, as I was not pleased with the end result after a couple of days. It's still not a perfect copy, but I was very pleased with the end result none the less and the final mesh was probably one of my best pieces of work. Exported the mesh to ZBrush so I could texture and sculpt additional details to the mesh, I also learned how to blend different textures to create similar effects that the reference image was displaying. I slightly coloured the area around the blue emblems with more blue, to create a glow effect (as they glow in the reference image).
This is one of my latest pieces of work, as I wanted to leave this one till last after I had practiced my skills on other meshes that I didn't see as important in comparison to this one. Ultimately, I am very pleased that I left this mesh till last as the I find the result to be most pleasing.
